Recently, I learned that the embargo established by the US on Cuba in 1962, which restricted the export of goods from the US to Cuba, has had a strong impact on transportation and has resulted in streets filled with old beat up cars. Mechanics in Cuba are some of the best in the world seeing as they are relied on to maintain such old antique cars. I personally think the automobiles from the 50's and 60's have a very unique and desirable design and I find the images of many Cuban streets and cars very cool.
